Elizabeth Diaz

Elizabeth Diaz was a smart, loving girl who cared about her two young children more than anything in the world. Unfortunately, Elizabeth had fallen on some difficult times. Despite having ambitions and goals of becoming either a police officer or a nurse, Elizabeth fell into drug addiction and found herself doing sex work to get money. A year before she went missing, Elizabeth was diagnosed with leukemia and underwent a bone marrow transplant, essentially shutting down her immune system and making her vulnerable to even the smallest infection or illness. On September 7th, 1999, when Elizabeth left her Springfield, Massachusetts home and didn’t return, her family became extremely concerned.

Roberto Diaz, Elizabeth’s dad, told police shortly after she went missing that she had been hanging out with two men regularly. He gave their names and even a license plate number, but he never heard any follow up and is not even sure there was any investigation into these men. To this day, there has been no sign of Elizabeth. At the time of her disappearance, Elizabeth was 5’2”, weighing 115 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white, sleeveless shirt, a brown and gray checked skirt, and blue and white sneakers. She had a black handbag at the time. If you or anyone you know has any information on the disappearance of Elizabeth Diaz, please call the Springfield Police Department at 413-787-6300.
